Hello, dear readers!
December is a month filled with magnificently rich cultural and religious holidays worldwide. For me, it's synonymous with the arrival of Christmas—a day filled with traditions and symbolism but ultimately a celebration of love. Just as Thanksgiving reminds us to be thankful, Christmas reminds us that our capacity to love is the ultimate hallmark and privilege of being human.
"There are these three things that endure: Faith, Hope, and Love, but the greatest of these is Love."
— 1 Corinthians 13:13
Over the years, I have collected and received Christmas tree ornaments. (Yes, I’m that person.) They represent unique places visited and gifts from loved ones, some remaining only in spirit. I'm reminded of the sentiment each time we decorate our tree.
Collections bring joy and serve as a lens through which we can reflect on and appreciate our journey. As each year comes to a close, we naturally revisit our lives, often through the lens of curated collections and lists. Spotify has Wrapped up 2024, Instagram has Nine Best Posts, and the NY Times lists the Best of 2024, including lists for books, music, art, television, movies, theater, and more.
In the spirit of lists and collecting, here is a collection of the Top 10 Reads from Steeped Stories for 2024. I’ve also posted a link to my Amazon store that lists unique gifts and collections for the tea lover. Every post on this list made it here on its own merits. These are based on how many people read, commented, or subscribed.
📖 Please save this email to read the articles at your leisure. It is my last one for 2024. I will see you again (figuratively speaking) in 2025. Wishing you joy in these final weeks of the year and the happiest, most love-filled holidays.

What I'm Reading
The Light of The World: A Memoir
by Elizabeth Alexander
Upon the suggestion of a fellow writer, I’m reading The Light of the World, a Pulitzer Prize biography finalist. It is a memoir dedicated to the immense love Alexander shared with her late husband.
As with any well-written poet, Alexander conveys a sea of emotion with a puddle of words. I’ve always admired poets for their ability to do that. We can learn much about writing (and life) from reading her work.
Merriam-Webster’s word of the year for 2024 is polarization. Apropos. So much polarization is thrown at us daily, making Alexander’s writing a unifying joy to read.
Alexander describes her marriage as a union of opposites. I liken it to the interconnected parts of a plant. Though the roots, stem, and flowers have distinct characteristics, each is vital to the plant's survival. Together, they rely on one another to create a unified whole. Her writing is beautiful, with human depth, emotion, and meaning behind every word. Alexander transfers her humanity to every page.
